I’m a free bird! The last couple of weeks of school were crazy busy, but it’s now officially summer break! I can’t believe I’m officially a Senior at Juilliard! Time flew by! I’m excited to kick off a wonderfully exciting summer of work (at my very own desk!). Today is the first day of summer and the first day of full time working and I couldn’t be happier. There are so many exciting events happening within the next five days! Commencement is Friday, and I was chosen again to escort one of the Honorary Doctorate recipients to graduation. Last year I had the honor of spending the day with Philip Glass, and this year I will be escorting ballet legend Suzanne Farrell! Today I have a meeting with some of the other escorts about Friday’s schedule and what to expect. Suzanne Farrell was one of the greatest ballerinas of the 20th century. She was a member of New York City Ballet, and danced for nearly thirty years! She teachers all over the world and has her own company, the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, which is produced by the Kennedy Center.
This is going to be the best (and busiest!) summer yet. I now have my own projects and deadlines with my new position in the Development and Public Affairs office, I will be a nanny to two adorable toddlers under the age of five on the weekends, and I will be at Steps on Broadway taking ballet classes in the evening! My friends and I made a pact that we are going to explore as many of the city’s cultural institutions and offerings as possible this summer. It’s my last summer as a college student and I’m going to make it count!
