I haven’t forgotten about you! I’ve had some pretty wild things going on in the past month or so. About a month ago, one morning I called in sick to work because I thought I had food poisoning from the sushi I had for lunch the day before. I have very high pain tolerance, (as most dancers do) so I figured that my stomachache would pass and I could get to work the following day. By 7pm that night, the pain had escalated to the point where I couldn’t even speak. I managed to call 911 and soon an ambulance arrived and rushed me to the ER. I was severely dehydrated and in an incredible amount of pain. I was administered an IV and morphine, anti-nausea medication, and fever reducer- I was not in good shape! After many tests and a CAT scan, the doctor told me the diagnosis: appendicitis. I needed immediate surgery before my appendix burst! I called my parents to let them know the diagnosis and that I was scheduled for a laparoscopic appendectomy at 5 a.m.! The next thing I remember is waking up and seeing my parents at my bedside. It was such a relief! Later that day I went back home with my parents to Long Island.

The recovery process was long and painful. I only had three small incisions, but they took a long time to heal. I was completely unable to walk for over a week. As you could imagine, if I couldn’t walk, I was definitely not dancing! As a matter of fact, I took my first real class since the surgery just yesterday! And this time last week guess where I was? EUROPE! I’m not kidding! But you’ll have to stick around to hear more about that adventure!
